With Chiari the hernition of the tonsils can block the CSF flow...(cerebral spinal fluid) this needs to flow freely in order for signals to travel from the brain to each area of the body for the body to function....when there is a blockage a syrinx can form and it can put pressure on the nerves, if left untreated it can cause perm nerve damage is this goes on for too long....
Only a CSF obstruction requires surgery for the Chiari....not everyone with Chiari will be a surgical candidate....but testing to see if there is a blockage or if you have any related conditions should be done.
Since you have new symptoms a new MRI should be done to compare to your last one if it is older then 6 months....
Also look into vitmain and mineral levels..low Vit D, B12, low magnesium and potassium can cause spasms too,
I honestly don't know if I was dxd with a csf obstruction. What is that, and should I be looking into it? Thanks for taking the time to reply to my post about these darn spasms.
Hi and welcome back !!
Chiari symptoms can change and cycle and does not mean the herniation has gotten larger...but with a new and increased symptom you will want to have a new MRI to see if there have been changes.
Do you know if when you were first DX'd if you had a CSF obstruction then or any related condition?
