what activites should people with chiari malfortion stay away from

I have a daughter that had surgery on her brain. they had to thin the skull so the tonsils would have room for the fluid to flow. the surgery went well. the one thing I am concerned about is her future. I still don't understand what she can do and what she shouldn't be doing. she went snowboarding and hit her head. thank god we took her to the doctors and she is fine. but now I worry about everything she wants to do. the doctor will not tell us what activities she should stay away from ,he just says everyone is  different . what I need to know is it like shaken baby syndrome or does she actually have to hit the spot where the bone is thinned out????does anyone have any information on this

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

Snow boarding is dangerous for anyone Chiari or not.....same goes for skiing.....any contact sport....

It is going to be a individual thing as to what affects her  activity wise....and it also depends on how long since she had surgery.....we all heal at different rates.

The area where the C1 and C2 were shaved down to create more room is a weakened area....and  yes that area can be more susceptible to injury.
