I took zofran when I was pregnant with me fourth child and he was born with a congenital birth defect called Chiari Malformation. BEWARE!!!! I would not recommend taking zofran while pregnant. Do your research first. It has not been approved by the FDA for pregnant woman and the company that makes the drug settled out of court for the largest class action ever in history.
Considering I did not take it with my other pregnancies and my other children do not have the birth defect I know that is what caused my son to be born with Chiari.
I took it post surgery and loved it, never gave me a belly ache! But I also had Zantac as well to help with the pain meds as I have acid reflux! Is there pain meds as well? Wondering if something else is the culprit?
i took it the entire time i was in the hospital after my surgery! it made a HUGE difference!
Oh and yes. It can cause belly aches and in some nausea. Go figure. If she isn't taking it to conteract another medication. I would ask to switch to phenergan (promathiazine). Other than sleepiness it is a gentler med
Zofran is great for controling medicine induced nausea. But I have not seen it work well with other forms as it doesn't trigger the nausea center in the brain like phenergan. But it worked better than compizine for the chemi patients (but than again that would be medicine induced). My hospice patients liked it better though becuase it didn't cause the drowsiness.
That is what I know. I use phenergan and it works really well but everyone is different
they gave it to my daughter ,and its makin her belly hurt ,is this normal?
zofran is usually used to control nausea in cancer patients or for surgery. with pain meds, they usually give promethazine, which is what i take. so in answer to your question, no. i have not taken zofran to the best of my knoweldge.
took it while preggers with my second and post operative. WORKS SO WELL!! its a miracle drug for me anyway.
