^ 6 year girl self centered

I have a 6 year old girl that only does what she wants to do...unless I am there watching her...I ended up taking her out of school because I got tired of daily emails or phone calls about her behavior...talking to her friends...coloring when told not to...etc...She is very smart and does well at homeschooling..as long as I am there with her in the same room....She will not follow instructions on her own...She will do other school work than the assined work...If she is told she can not have candy..she will wait until I am out of site and take candy...Hide it it her room...then eat it at later on...She will hide her clothes in cubbie holes instead of putting them away in her drawers...She will hide toys so that she can play at night instead of going to bed...She will lie to me about almost everything...even when she is caught doing something...She has said..dad did it...even the dogs got blamed for her tossing soiled toilet paper in the garbage instead of the toilet.

She has been with us since she was 2 and we adopted her at three.  She has just started asking about her birth family and what her other name was...She always knew she was adopted but I never can her a clear defination of what adopted means..Not sure whether I need to get her a therapist....I am trying to keep calm but it is so hard...

Thank you,

madame,  google reactive attachment disorder,  she sounds like she has all the classic signs.  Children who are neglected in their babyhood don't form normal bonds with people,  and don't see any reason to follow their rules.

I think you need to get her to a therapist,  and get into a support group for parents with reactive attachment disorder,  if the therapist believes she has this.

Best wishes.
