10 year old girl regressing - fast!

10 year old girl regressing - fast!

My daughter aged just 10 has complex epilepsy and has severe Receptive Language disorder.  She is a year behind at school because of her learning.    Last year I took her off her medication for her epilepsy (I didnt think it was doing her any good - she has very poor social skills).   One year on and her epilespy is not any worse, her severe Receptive language skill hasnt improved but her Spoken language skills have improved so much she is within her age range now!  which is great.  Only to be told today by her teacher that they feel my daughter is regressing in her maturity!!! (teacher said to age 4/5 year old)  only 6 months ago I was told she was improving dramatically, and coping well in the classroom and now to be told this, I feel absolutely devistated!

Whats happening???  she was doing so well?  could the medication have influenced her  Maturity?    I have noticed too that she isnt growing as fast as other children (although she has always been very tiny for her age)  she is 10 and I buy age 6/7 clothing!  although she is perfectly in proportion (just miniture).  Could their be a link?

I am so confused, what could cause my daughter to regress so fast?

It's important to look at the entire context - you are basing your reaction on feedback that is important, but not the whole picture. It would be prudent to arrange thorough testing for your daughter, including both cognitive and psychological components. A Neuropsychological Evaluation would answer many of your questions and, more importantly, provide a map for intervention.
