100% BOY

My four year old boy has displayed behaviors in Pre-school that have raised some eyebrows.  His favorite toys are super heros, transformers, cars and army men.  His play usually involves blowing something up, crashing or killing "bad guys."  He is also very active.  My husband and I have not done much to discourage this type of play.  He has a very active immagination and makes shooting noises frequently even if the toy he is playing with has nothing that would shoot.  Yesterday he took the wand out of the bubble solution and pretended to shoot the "bad guys" in the backyard.  While most people tell us he is just 100% boy one of his teachers seems very concerned about his "violent" behavior.  Being a middle school teacher myself, I understand completely the no tollerace schools have for guns even in play.  I do not think my child understands shooting, guns etc. past play.  We do not let him watch innaproprate TV, but it seems everything he enjoys has blowing up and shooting in it (example: movie Incredibles).

His play is also very physical.  He and his 6 year old cousin love to wrestle even though this is very much discouraged.  This week at school a piece fell off his lego ship he built another child picked it up.  The other child would not give it back so my son tackeled him to the floor.  The teacher said that my son ramed him with his head and was about to start swining at him.  This behavior of intentionaly trying to hurt someone is new.  My husband and I talked with him about other ways to sovle problems and he also received a time out at home.  I know that children at this age do not have the verbal skills to solve all of their problems with eachother so I told him to let the teacher know what happend and not to hurt others.  My husband disagrees he does not want him to be a tattle tale.

Any advice?  What should we be doing?
