11 mth old biting

11 mth old biting

My son is 11 and a half months old. When he was breast feeding even with no teeth he would gum my nipple and bite playfully on my chin. I thought this was his way of kissing. But as he got older and grew teeth it hasn't stopped and he bites me hard enough to bruise and almost draw blood. Of course I'm not breast feeding anymore. I have raised my voice a bit too him and said don't bite to try and get him to understand that he is hurting. He cries when I do that and keeps trying to bite me. He does it when he is crying or happy I don't know how to get him to stop. Is it something he will grow out of? What should I do?

Try to get him some toys that he can chew on. I did it with my younger boy cause he was teething. see if that helps.

Yeah I have lots of toys for him. He opts for biting people as well as his toys.

Say "Ouch" in a loud, stern voice.  Put him down and say, "You hurt mummy"  Let him see a hurt expression on your face.  Leave him on the floor for a few moments.  He will clue in.  If he bites another person, make a huge fuss over that person and pointedly ignore him.

Pretty much every kid takes a few chunks.  This will pass.
