11 year old with issues

by hb2me, Oct 28, 2007 08:54PM
My son is very bright but a bit immature. He is very social but seems to be more of a follower then a leader. He gets great grades usually but this year is his first year in middle school and changeing teachers. He is unorganized and has been having trouble in math. His most troubling issue is that he doens't have a best friend and seems to crave the kids who are trouble makers even when they treat him badly. We live in an upscale area and is jaded by the kids who have everything and he is jealous. Granted he DOES have more then most but we make him earn it 90% of the time. I am hoping that this is nothing more then a maturity issue and hope that he will "wake up" but I need advise on what we can do as parents to help him see things more clearly. We have had many many talks with him about this and he always says he will change and he seems so sincere but I have to say that it's a daily battle. Looking forward to any feedback.

My daughter is the same way. She will be 11 in April. She is bossy. I don't like the way she talks to me at times she likes to treat me like if I am a child. Just recently I have noticed this change. Today I noticed where it is coming from. I went to her first soccer game and since she is in a new school there is a girl there that was telling her mother to hush up and rolling her eyes at her Mom. My daughter likes this girl. Why I don't know. She was caught last month cheating on a test. I told her then to keep away from cheaters. But, that was no good. I think your son is getting some bad stuff from school. We have our daughter in private school ever since she was little and this is the first time she has ever followed someone elses ways. So I am putting my foot down and taking her off CPU and TV and little by little talking things out of her room until she gets the picture that I am serious. I am the parent and I need her to know this. She did good one her report card but got a C in math. The rest was A & B. I don't want to push her away. Just to show her I mean business and stop this way NOW.  GOOD LUCK TO YOU AND ME.
