11 yr old daughter interested in grown up things normal?

my 11 yr old daughter touched and kissed 5 y/o sister's privates and 3 y/o sister saw also and they both told mother bout it. they said it happened 2 nights in a row and she was disciplined for it by her mother(me and the mother arent together anymore and 5 y/o and 3 y/o are her half sisters)because she lied to her and denied it and when i talked to her she said pretty much that couple of friends at school were discussing it and she wanted to try but i know that she knows it was wrong and for her to do it to another girl is that normal behavior for a kid her age to try to do that??? baffled and scared to say the wrong thing to her on such a delicate subject! any suggestions..??

I am sure that some curiosity of their bodies is normal what isnt to be allowed that she does things to another ,especially younger children ,I think your ex took the right approach and she should know she cannot inappropiatly touch others ..Good Luck

While I think some sexual acting-out is normal at age 11 (girls I knew at that age used to "practice kiss" on the theory that if they got older and had a date they would then know what to do -- don't ask me why this seemed important), I don't think it's normal to act out with a sibling.  I'd see it as a power play using sex as the tool, and also question whether the 11-year-old has been exposed to some inappropriate sexual activity or even has been touched herself by someone else.
