12 Year Old Grandson un able to entertain self

by NuGranny, Nov 08, 2009 05:47PM
My 12 Year old grandson seems unable to entertain himself.  Just wants to watch cartoons or play video games.  Seems to have a selective energy level and tends to resist doing his chores around the house/yard.  Needs reminders to say 'please' and 'thank you'.  His main strengh seems to be getting others to do things for him, entertain him etc., etc..

Watching cartoons and playing video games are forms of entertaining himself. His use of those forms of entertainment should be allowed only when his work (school or chores) has been completed. If he relies on others to entertain him, it is up to his parents to put more of the responsibility on his shoulders.
