12 yr old,angry at the world

We are having major problems with our 12 yr old son,
seems angry at the world (mostly his fault) but he takes it out on his step mother,myself and anyone else around..He has even picked up a hammer and threatend his step mother with harm. He even picked up the family dog and held her up over his head and dropped her. He has kicked his step mother,he has punched holes in the walls at his mothers home also..He has beaten a new door I installed in our home that was less then a week old. Just seems like he feels that no one likes or cares about him. The more someone gets angry with his behavior the happier or more devious he gets. Not matter what we do or say nothing is working .
any suggestions?
