Teko let me ask you something.. are you saying that giving your child medicaiton is child abuse? just trying to figure out what you meant?

As for Dearheart7 it does sound like a lot for a 13 yr old.  Do you know if that's exactly what the Dr. prescribed or his parents give them that much because they felt he behaved better?

supposely that is what the doctor did. but all of the antidepressants are taken at nite. plus the kid is on sleeping pills. the last dosage of adderal is given at 730 at nite. which would keep him up and then they give sleeping pills to put him to sleep. i've already talked to them and told them that is crazy and i don't care what the doctor said.

Oh My Gosh!! My husband is 28yrs old, 185lbs, and was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult.  He takes Adderall (adderrall) XR 30mg twice a day.  Because he has been on it for several years it has started not working as well as it used to (the body builds up tolerance) When he told his neurologist this, the doctor told him that the dosage he is taking is the highest legal prescription.  I find it very hard to believe that a doctor would write out that much medication to a child when my husband couldn't get any higher.

I forgot to mention that the neurologist told my husband to take the first adderall (adderrall) at 6 in the morning (not hard to do for a 13 yr old in school) and take the second at 9am so that way because it is 12 hour release, he wouldn't have such a hard time going to sleep at night.  (he does NOT take sleeping meds and this system has worked for years)
