13 yr. old w/ ADHD- Are natural supplements a safe alternative?

My 13 yr. old nephew has ADHD.  We have tried several different medicinal remedies (ritalin, syelert),but they have not been successful due to unacceptable side effects.  We have seen supplements available at local health/nutrition stores and wonder if they are safe.  In particular, Pedi-Active, containing phosphatidylserine/DMAE, manufactured by Natural Organics Laboratories, Inc.

Many people are using such preparations, simply because they are available over the counter, as if there is no need to be cautious. You are asking a good question, and I guide people to work in concert with their health care providers when thinking about the use of the sorts of preparations you are considering.
