2 year old speech delay

I have a 31 month old son who does not talk. He will sing some words to songs like twinkle twinkle or songs from tv shows but will not say hi or bye.  He also say "eat" on a regular basis and "I wuv you" on occasion.  I currently have him in speech therapy one day a week and occupational therapy twice a week.  I have seen small improvements but am worried that he may have autism.  He will twirl pencils in his hand alot. I had his hearing tested and everything came back normal. I asked his therapist about autism and she said that she does not think he is on the spectrum.

It would be wise to arrange an evaluation with a Developmental Pediatrician. That will tell you whether he displays developmental problems beyond the Speech/Language domain.
