22 month old - Gifted child tendencies?

Hello,

I need some advice regarding my 22 month old daughter. She has a vocabulary of 300+ words, can say full sentences with 3-4 words (e.g I want one more cookie, mama sit down here, I want to see tv), can recognize and say all alphabets. She loves doing alphabet puzzles and other animals and vehicles puzzles that are intended for 2+ and 3+ year kids. She can correctly identify and say 7-8 colors and 7-8 shapes, can make 10 animal sounds, point to 10 body parts, loves to read books. She can identify and count from 1-10 clearly, recently she has started counting specific objects e.g if she sees two balloons, she will say "one, two..two balloons". Does it sound like she is gifted? Is there anything I can do to nurture her development? She walked a bit late..around 16 months but had a vocab of over 150 words by 19 months. Your advice and help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Definatly sports and games are a good thing, a child needs to move its body, music is great it does soothe the savage beast/breast and can be very calming when children are tired or overwrought..I read a lot to my children even as they grew older, my mom read to me the written word is very important even in out world of technology ..good luck

Hi, thanks for your reply. Yes, I am thinking of getting the tests done when she is older but right now just letting her do what she enjoys doing, expose her to new things, chatting with her..I think that really broadens their horizon. I am also thinking of enlisting her in a gym to polish her motor skills rather than having her do puzzles, books all the time.

Sounds like you have already been doing just that, well done, all the things you have told us here show there has been much input for your child, I have seen this many times and it is nearly always when children are encouraged by their parents, read to, played games with, puzzles etc I saw today an expert speaking about child hood intelligence ,she said the more you talk , encourage ,play , read , communicate the better for all children ,it is something I have always personally agreed with. When children go out walking, the trees, the flowers, the sky can be talked about, they love it,communication is so important .As to your child being gifted she may well be she is certainly well ahead in my opinion, you can have the tests done when she is older I suggest that you google to get further information .re gifted children ..
