3 1/2 year old girl peeing and pooping in house

I have a 3 1/3 year old granddaughter that has been peeing and pooping in the house. She will hide under her bed and do it or do it in the corner of her room. They have tried everything. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

She has been potty trained for about a year and has been doing this for maybe 9 months. She doesn't tell when she does it, they find it. After a while her mom caught her doing it. When they ask why she says "because".
