3 yr old potty issues

by schells, Jul 25, 2009 07:21PM
My 3 year old still has potty acidents, including BMs.  These accidents mostly occur while he's playing, but it's as if he can't feel him self when he starts to have a BM.  How do I handle this, nothing seems to work.

Children tend to forget to use the potty when playing. The best advice I could probably give you is to have him use the bathroom about every 1/2 hour to 1 one hour. Eventually this will stretch over the course of a few hours. He is still young and children really don't fully potty train until about 4-5 yrs old. Especially boys. Girls and boys learn at different paces. Gentle reminders will help him to remember. Good luck
