3.5 year old son. Not just ADHD

I chose Misc as the Topic because I am having so many different issues. So here goes..

My son is 3 years old, he will be 4 in May. He is a very overly hyper child. Does not listen, does not follow directions. Yells, screams, hits, bites.. He attacks myself, my daughter, and my 10 month old son.

He will not potty train, he does not know his abc's, his numbers or his colors. Even though I have spent countless hours working with him on these things.

He tends to line up his crayons, his cars, and likes to play with change and stack it up.

He is very smart and can put puzzles together even at his young age.

He can memorize tv shows, music videos, and often repeats commercials as they come on.

At times he is loveable and my sweet baby boy. Most times he is angry, sad, and violent.

I talked to his peditrician about my concerns when he was only 2. She said it was his age. Talked to her again about it when he was 3.5 and she sent us to a child psyhitrist  he said my son had ADHD, which I believe with all my heart.

He prescribed him methilyn 5ml/500. And I give him 10ml in the morning and 10ml in the afternoon. We started out at 5 then went to 10. 15 was to much so stuck at 10. now it is not working. He only stays calm for maybe 2 hours.

But even when he is calm he is in a zombie like state. Not capable of really learning. Just spaces out. Still only pays attention to certain things that he wants to. Then snaps out of it and is violent and angry again.

His speech is not where it should be. He is not losing words. He just is not gaining them at what I would think a normal speed would be. You can't have a conversation with him yet.

He is supossed to start school in Aug. I do not see this happening. Not only because of his behaviour issues, but also because of his inibility to potty train. (ive tried every single resource out there), his lack of speaking.

Calling his docs tomorrow. But can you give me some insight. Thanks.

While he may well display ADHD, that is likely the least of the issues he is facing. He should undergo a thorough developmental evaluation. This will investigate all the major areas of development: fine and gross motor, cognitive (including speech/language), social and emotional.
