3yr old is out of control!

Hi my son is 3 and he's been having bevahior problems for quite some time now. He has been to numerous drs. The latest dr. told us to put him in his room for timeout and lock the door if he attempts to open it. Is locking a child in his room considered abusive? I know its to isolate him from the rest of us until he calms down but I dont know if its right.

You two are crazy and have no idea what this poor lady is talking about. The lady clearly stated that she had taken her child to many doctors prior to her final decision which shows she does care and is willing to do anything she can to try to fix the problem so she's not just doing it because she is lazy and doesn't want to deal with the kid but that there is a real problem. I have a 3 year old as well and can relate he as well has seen doctors with the same advice. There is nothing wrong with him he just happens to be more stubborn and persistant as the average 3 year old which makes sense because he is just like me. I have put him back in his bedroom 20 times and he still has come out. There was no dramatic experience or underlying problem he's a 3 year old with a crazy gene pool. I am very patient but there comes a point where a child needs to understand that the parent is in charge and they are not or before you know it your child is skipping school to go smoke pot and getting in trouble.  It is crucial to establish a safe form of punishment and an understanding for rules and respect. Do I think it's OK to lock a kid in there all day no but for 5 minutes yes to give them a chance to calm down and realize that what they did is not OK and will not be tolerated. There is a baby cam in my son's room so I am also able to monitor him to make sure he is OK. As mom's you should realize that spending a whole day disciplining a child is impossible, everyone has a breaking point,  it puts undue stress on the parent which then gets taken out on other people unfairly because you can't take it out on the child because they are just that a child but also makes it impossible to complete day to day tasks that also need to done in order to have a functioning household.  Every child is different so not every parent needs to go to such an extreme but there are children out there that do require it.  So when you judge a patenting tack of a child you don't know you should try to remember that not everyone has a cookie cutter mold child and finding constructive ways to displine them rather than beating them saves the world from one more problems child to add to the list of potential criminals. Saints fanatic you ate not alone in your troubles.

Hey,

Hell yes thats abuse!

My 3 year old son too is also very hard work and his behavior is so bad sometimes i feel like giving up completely. but i would never lock him in his room. put him in his room for time out, every time he gets out of his room put him back in, after 3 times of doing this tell him you will lock him in there if he doesn't stay put in his room. then put him back in there and hold the door. that way he thinks you have done what you said you would do. but you haven't locked him in there.

hope this helps? x
