3yr old son confusing symptoms

3 yr old son stopped talking at 2.5 and started only making incomprehensible sounds.3 months ago started repetitive activity of hitting his hand with any object he can find, the bigger and harder it is the more he enjoys it,when doing this he has a somewhat strange facial expression like he is concentrating really hard.He can do this all day if you allow him and he gets very upset when you try to stop him.He had his tonsils, adenoids out and grommets fitted 2 weeks ago so his hearing is much improved. We also found out about a month ago that he is allergic to a lot of food and materials which explained why he was always rubbing his eyes and digging into his nostrils. His gross and fine motor development appears to be ok but he is not potty trained yet.He does not attend any playgroup or nursery but has  an 8yr old and 20 month old siblings. He enjoys cuddles ,smiles and laughs a lot.Does not follow instructions but seems to try.Anybody out there please help .

Thank you very much for the feedback,We have sent him to a Child Dev Doctor who said he will need to be reassed in 4 months time(and this waiting is killing us, of cause)
He started speech therapy recently and will start occ therapy in January.Although I work full time,we try really hard to spend a lot of time with him ,doing things because his sisters are really independent little things and are so ahead in everything.
We have also started eliminating dairy from his diet and we are going really slowly with this cause at the moment he has a really bad flu bug..

i would seek the help and advice of your pediatrician and a developmental psychologist ASAP. These behaviors are not typical and indicative of developmental problems. Early intervention can do a world of good and help him and your family tremendously. best of luck.

Sounds like he has a hearing problem and maybe the sounds he makes are because he cant hear his own voice he certainly could use more help from his Doctor,Does he get plenty of attention I se there is an 8year old and a baby , make sure he gets his share of positive attention, get his Dad involved with games and out side activities, mayb a play group for a few hours a wek would benefit him and get him involved with other things.

Did you talk to a doctor? Is he bilingual?  This could be signs of very serious problems
