My son is extremely hyperactive. Lately it's gotten worse. He can't even keep food down, because he is all over the place afterward. He also has some serious sensory issues. He smears poop & vomit. Would Abilify help with these issues? If not, what would? We are desperate. He hasn't kept food down for 5 days. We brought him to the ER, but there was nothing they could to do, because he isn't sick. I talked to his specialist yesterday. She thinks he is making himself vomit on purpose. She said to put elbow braces on him. I want to do more then that. I want to help him calm down & stop having these weird episodes.

Your added comment makes a very significant difference. Children with autism present a challenge because you cannot take for granted that the 'tried and true' methods of normal child behavior management will  be effective. In any case, it's too early to be thinking about phamacological intervention. What is required is a thorough developmental evaluation, and part of this will be a medical workup. Children only very rarely (i.e., almost never) vomit on purpose. Has your son ever had a complete developmental evaluation?
