4 year old girl poops her pants

by codym, Oct 28, 2009 03:37PM
This weekend my boyfriend's 4 year old daughter went into the bathroom, took off her panties and put on pull ups.  She then proceeded to come out to the living room where a full room of adults were sitting and pooped.  She thought this was very funny until she discovered we weren't as amused.  After we had her help clean herself up she mocked an injury by her brother.  My 45 year old sister was sitting with this little girl and her brother while this event happened.  The little girl fell over in hysterics saying she was kicked. Her brother was sitting on the other side of my sister and it just didn't happen.  These kids have had a lot of change during this past year with the divorce and break up of their family.  The little boy has been delayed with education ( writing his name, counting etc).  This little girl has just started being extremely manipulative.  What needs to be done for this little girl before it gets worse?

Change in the environment, particularly the family environment, with a child so young almost always results in some instability. While the events you described are not particularly alarming, they do invite the need for some professional intervention. An evaluation will help to determine how much this girl has changed from her baseline level of functioning and help to guide her father in how to manage the situation.
