4 year sexual behavior

Yesterday when I picked my grand daughter up from the afterscool program she was sitting in time out. The paraprofessional teacher told me that she observed my grand daughter pulling down a little boy's pants and asked why she was doing that she responded "cause he said I could lick it."  I was so distraught I could not comprehend what had happened. The lifestyle of my household does not warrant that behavior. I am with her all the time at home and at church. she is never out of my sight unless she is in school. I am so bothered by this incident that I need to know is this beyond normal and I have a serious problem on my hands or what?  Please help.

This discussion is related to sexual awareness in a 4 year old?.

sometimes this is just normal experimentation, curiosity, or kids doing something that is enjoyable. other times it could be because of abuse or improper exposure. it could be something that only happens once, or it could end up getting worse. it needs to be nipped in the butt so to speak. it is technically statutory rape, but the child is probably too young to try the scare tactic. a conversation about private parts and about good touch bad touch is warranted. perhaps a conversation about love and things that should only be done in a relationship, but she is probably too young for that.

make sure that the after school program knows about the problem and watches those 2. if it keeps happening, especially if it is the boy who initiates it, then don't send your daughter to that place.

Thanks I appreciate the response. I am very vigilant now. Always talking to my granddaughter about right and wrong choices.

I actually would be more apt to think that the little boy who said that to your granddaughter is the one to be concerned about... I am NOT a professional of any sort, but it sounds to me like the boy is who may have instigated her into the act... I would be willing to bet she didn't even know what "it" was that he was referring to... I would keep an eye on her interaction with that boy, and hopefully the authority person in the room has put some flags up to those responsible for the boy...
