4 yr old has begun wandering at night

My 4 yr old has begun getting out of bed in the middle of the night and either coming into our room, or going into the room of one of his brothers or sisters and sleeping there.  This seemed to begin around the time he became potty trained.  We hadn't had any problems with him staying in his room prior to that.  We have him use the potty before bed, have tried limiting drinks for a certain amount of time before bed, have tried incentives for staying in be all night....nothing is working.  He used to only come into our room and try to sleep with us.  I always get up, have him potty, and take him back to his own room.  The problem is, once he discovered that we won't let him stay in our room, he began going to someone else's room instead.  So we don't usually know until the morning.  The other kids are too out of it during the night to know to come and tell us or take him back to his room.  We are at a loss for what to do.

I truly don't know the right answer to this problem.  But, I remember my dad said something along the lines that people used to sleep together all the time.  But in modern times, many of us get our own rooms.  Some kids are ok sleeping by themselves (my middle daughter) and some kids want company (my youngest and oldest).  So I just let my kids go in each others' rooms. Now they are 12 and older and they all stay in their own rooms.  So the problem worked itself out on its own in time.
My mother-in-law came from Italy and lived on a farm.  The whole family slept together in one room.  So maybe we try to control our kids too much on this kind of thing.  Hope this helps.

How about you allow her to sleep in with one of her siblings in her own bed, it could be she feels lonely. it may stop her wondering around. What time does she go to bed and does she nap during the day, I am wondering if she is not tired and thats why she is waking.
