My 5 yr old son is having issues with tanturms and whining and interrupting...
he asks me for something i say firmly no or not right now..he doesnt like that he wants it now so he ll try and whine to his dad who is a total softie...and lets him have it..what he wants.
or if we both say no then he starts whining and getting loud and if that doesnt work..he starts throwin a fit..
i tried timeouts in the corner and tell him not to turn or i will add another minute and he just made a game out of it so i gave up on that...
i dont like to spank...so i dont want to go there.
does any one have any suggestions on how i can handle these issues?
and interrupting
i will be talking to a visitor or his dad and he wont say anything before i start talking....but when i do its mom mom mom mom mom mom mom
i tried telling him to use his manners,he used to and he was good about waiting but lately...well...
hes getting worse..
help :s
There is a great book out there about time out. It explains what it is and how to effectively use it. There is a child referenced in it just like yours. It is called "SOS Help For Parents" by Lynn Clark, PhD. Best to nip it in the bud now.
