5 year old girl temper tantrums

5 year old girl temper tantrums

Please help. My daughter is constantly throwing temper tantrums while at home when she does not get her way. She does not do this in public, but only while at home. She constantly repeats what she wants to do and screams and won't stop crying. We have tried ignoring and tried taking things away, but nothing works. She also never wants to go to preschool even though when she gets there she is just fine and the teachers say she has a good time and plays well and her learning is improving. She says school is boring and she always misses us. My wife goes to school 3 days a week during the day and works 2 nights a week. I work from home and get her up for school on Tuesday and Thursdays and am with her usually every night and take her to sporting activities. She also wants to stay up late and sleep in. I am worried about her emotionally and am wondering if we need to have her seen by a doctor to evaluate her self esteem?

If your daughter is okay once she gets to school, the problem she is having is at home.  I believe that she feels that she is not getting enough quality time from either you and/or your wife.  She is acting out in frustration and feeling stress due to her wanting attention from her parents.  She needs some real good quality time one on one with you and your wife.
