5th Disease

Hi, hope you can help me on this....my son, 6 yrs old got his first 5th disease from what the dr. found yesterday. His face is like a slapped-cheek, poor guy! He will be OK. The dr. said it is ok for him to go back to school.  I've never heard this before and I wonder where that came from....she was asking me a question if there was a pregnant woman at school, what kind of that question was that?  I asked his teacher by email and said that there were a several of them that are pregnant but has not been sick at all.  So, I'm lost and I thought I'd come here and get an answer from you.  Anyone of you know this and tell me where/what that came from. I read some off the internet but not sure if that is what it happened but I know there is a common in children that have the 5th Disease.

My daughter had it all over her mouth.  I think that its called hand foot and mouth disease as well.  Some kids get just the rash on the hands and feet and others like blister like canker sores the size of dimes if not bigger.  Cant do a thing about it, but wait it out

I was warned that 5th disease can cause miscarriage.  Every pregnant woman who has bee in contact with your son should be informed.  The school should be informed as well as I am sure he has shared it with his classmates.

Fifth disease is considered risky for pregnant women.  I'm surprised the doc didn't say this clearer:  if your child has been in close contact recently with pregnant women,  the women probably need to be informed.

Best wishes.
