5yr old boy, bathroom issues

My 5yr old son has starting peeing in random locations.   In his bedroom in a toy, all OVER the bathroom (except for IN the toilet), at preschool in the drain, and i'm at a loss.....   I know he's going threw some changes with starting school and all, but this is crazy!   Doing it in relatives and friends homes, etc.  Its really embarrassing considering he's been potty trained since he was 3.         I've tried the whole, you only pee in the toilet and no where else talk, explained about germs, and his little brother possibly getting it on his hands, and then putting it in his mouth, and that seemed to work for a minute, but he's back at it again.  3x last week alone!  (that we are aware of)

HELP!>!>!   anyone have any ideas??

oh mama, I went throught that peeing on odd places when my son was 4 to 4 and a half. I think that is one of their curiosity and exploration. my son pee on the bathroom floor and told me he didn't see the toilet bowl, he pee on my humidifier , my garbage can but not the toilet bowl. now he just turn 5 and he doesn't do it no more. hopefully he completely out grow it... i got so worried to just like you but they will go away..the hardest part is you will have surprises from them everyday.. meaning to say more cleaning on odd places,,,

Whew, atleast i'm not completely alone.   Everyone else i've talked too, never ran into anything like this.   I'm hoping that once school starts,  (next week!!!)  that this disappears again, when he realizes that other big boys don't do this.   Its just SOOO frustrating!!!
