6 yr old daughter gets a feeling which causes her to wiggle her stomach.

I have a daughter who is 6 1/2 yrs old. Over the last month or so she has started to get these movements in which she droops her shoulders and wiggles her stomach. I have asked her why she is doing this , she replied that she gets a feeling in her body that makes her have to do it. We have been watching her closely over the last couple of weeks and it seems to be happening much more frequently, like every couple of minutes.

This may be a motor tic and she should be evaluated. Now, most motor tics in children are benign and transient, but you should not assume this to be the case. Arrange for her to see her pediatrician, who may refer her to a pediatric neurologist.
