6 1/2 year old taking things

Do you have any suggestions on dealing with a 6 1/2 year old taking something(paper weight) from school that wasn't his and bringing it home to give to me(his mom)? I'm having him return it tomorrow... but should I contact the teacher? (this past weekend he also was going to take toys from his aunt's house, but we saw him and scolded him).

Then you talk to him , and give him lots of positive attention which is what he is seeking.

i think it would be good if your son returned the paper weight to his (Hopefully compassionate teacher) and told her he loved it so much he wanted to show it to his Mom and he is sorry he didnt ask permission to take and show it ..
