7 year old boy still refuse to use potty train

by Ana555, Mar 25, 2008 11:41PM
My husband and I tried everything - he goes pee in the toilet not problems  but refused to go potty in the toilet at all -we tried sticker as reward, read book,etc  .. but he doesnt have any problem in messing his pants.. he  said he doesnt know why he does  it.. he doesnt even mind it seems. When he was  a baby was constantly constipated it. One time he sat in the toilet to please us to try to go poo & he was crying while going poo in the toilet like it was hurting but  he was not constipated it. so he doesnt try anymore in the toilet he just does it on his pant constantly.. he does knows when he has to go j poo he just choose to do it in his pants..he is a real sweet child we are planning to take him to a psycologist..as a baby he was treated  it for Apriaxa .. I dont know if that would have to do with that or not. I asked him does it hurt when he goes into his pants he said no. If anybody has any suggestion please help us we are running out of ideas. would this be a development delay issued? please help..

Maybe he's afraid to sit on it for some reason, anxiety.  But I don't understand why else he can do it just fine in his pants and not the the toilet.   That's my only guess. I'm sure someone will chime in and give better advice :) I wish you the best.

We are going through the same thing except our child will not pee in the toilet. I have sat for hours in the bath room storey's, games, video even recently. One nurse did not recommend tv but she did really give us any help anyway. I was thinking if he is relaxed eventuallly he will go. We are on a list for a psycologist but it will not be until next year. If you are able to achieve success I would love to hear your recommendations
