7-yr old stepdaughter who won't eat normal food and doesn't listen

I have a 7-yr old stepdaughter who lives with her mom most the time and stays with us just every other weekend because of joint custody. We can't get her to eat normal food. I will fix a meal with a variety of things, even ask her if she likes it. When she gets it she'll maybe take one or two bites of one thing and we can't even get her to try anything else. A lot of times she won't even eat what she said she likes. And this is all after telling us she's hungry over and over. We tell her that if she doesn't eat she'll be hungry later and she always is. The only thing she'll eat is junk food and bread. Is it ok to tell her that if she doesn't eat her supper she's not getting anything later. Because she'll do the exact same thing if you try to give her real food. Or should i just giver her the junk food so she'll eat something?

cherylaw,  she may have food texture issues.  A 7 year old can say she likes something,  just to say it,  but in fact have a real distaste for it.

What does she eat at her mother's house?

I think if she doesn't want to eat whatever is for dinner,  bread is fine.

Relax the rules let her eat what she wants to when she wants to its okay isnt it, and if she wants a snack later ,wheres the harm in that ,keep healthy food in then thats what she will snack on,. Make sure she has fun and enjoys her time with you, games and get dad involved with her playing sports and outside activities, focus on her positive side and praise her when you see her doing something right

We had that problem also a while back.  Try this:  if she won't eat what you've made and you know she likes it, put it in the fridge and pull it out later when she says she's hungry.  Don't give in to the junk food.  My kids aren't that keen on many vegetable, so if I make something I know they don't like, I will cut up an apple for them, or some grapes on the side instead of veggies.
