8-year old siblings fears

8-year old siblings fears

My 8-year old step sister has a few interesting fears. I don't know if they are normal or not but I want to find a way for her to not be scared.
She is scared of being alone. Light or Dark she has to have someone around. Ex; she will not sleep in her bed if everyone else is downstairs. Nor will she go upstairs if no one comes with her. This is so much that if we even are all up staires, my other step sister, whom is my age, has to crack the door so that my little sister docent get scared. She also will not be in the dark. Alone or otherwise. She sleeps with her lights dimmed and gets scared if they are to dark.
Another fear thing she has is that everything will happen to her; even things that can't physically touch her. Hearing about tigers eating or attacking a person scares her. She also is scared of Dinosaures.
So basically if she hears or watches anything about bad people or dangerous animals that are across the globe she gets scared.
All of this is not extream, but it does worry me for her age. I'd say her fear level is a low middle.

Oh and she also gets worried if the house Alarm goes off and she doesnt know why or if we ever turn it off. It's one of the alarms that beeps everytime a window or door is open.

Please give me advice to help her ):

It maybe a good idea for her not to watch or see anything scary on TV ...Children very often do go through a phase of being scared of things .May I ask how old you are , and do you get on well with your step sister ?

Thats good , I understand you are concerned , I suggest that you make no issue of it, if it was really serious I would think her mom would take her to speak to the doctor. So play it down when she seems scared let it go, sometimes if we make more of something it blows out of proportion. You could make sure that scary stuff on TV is not on when she's around .Good luck
