9 year old regressing in toileting

9 year old regressing in toileting

I have a son who will be 9 in a few more weeks.  Since the age of 6 he's steadily declined in his toilet training. He was compelely trained by the age of 2 and we never had many problems.  He was actually quite particulary about his toileting and never wet the bed.   Around the age of 6 he began wetting his pants. At first it was infrequent, but over the years has become more and more frequent.  Now we are at the point to where he never stays dry and even has quite a bad rash on his genitals and thights from being constantly web (I constantly have to tell him to change his clothes, we go through so many clothes a day and I am always having to wash things for him).  I am becoming increasingly concerned because he has recently starting wetting his bed every night as well even though I started cuttinf off fluids at 6:30 pm.  He has no medical problems and is progressing normally academically.  It has been noted among friends, family, and teachers that he is socially awkward.  I am worried and wonder if I should have him evaluated by some type of mental health professional.  He checked out fine in blood tests and a urologist ruled out any physical problems.  Help!

Yes, you absolutely should arrange an evaluation. He is displaying behavior that is far outside the norm for his age.
