9 year old tantrums

Everytime I want to go out with my husband, go see a friend, spend time with anyone other than my daughter she goes into a raging tantrum.  Screaming at the top of her lungs like a 7 month old baby.  She calls me every 5 minutes on my cell, screaming. "it is an emergency, you have to come home."  Just today she has been screaming since I picked her up from school, after I told her, her father and I are going to a dinner party, she keeps saying, "I don't want you to go." Giving me choices like, "I will let you go if you let me have a friend over etc. Help.  I cannot take this anymore.. She is screaming please don't go and crying right now as I type this.

This behavior is indicative of an anxiety disorder and she should be evaluated for this. With treatment (involving therapy, parent guidance and perhaps medication) this type of situation will improve. Essentially you are looking at an untreated anxiety disorder.
