Adopted Child Bonded

I have adopted several children and have heard that children under 5 MUST bond with someone or they will/may never bond.  And that children under 5 will not bond more than once or twice at the most.  Does anyone know if this is true/false and what resource material there is for bonding in younger, adoptive children.

Thank you.

I think what you are talking about is attachment problems - I would google Reactive Attachment Disorder  - there is a lot of information about adopted children bonding at a young age on those websites and a lot of good resources on therapies to help children bond.  I know it is not an easy process for anyone involved if the child never bonded with anyone before the age of 5 but I think it can be done as long as they weren't too badly neglected or abused.   I don't know if they can bond more once or twice - because they say that multiple caregivers is one cause of Reactive Attachment Disorder.  Have you adopted a child with an attachment disorder?
