Almost 10 yr old daughter still soils pants

I've read quite a few parent threads on here about kids 7-9 wetting their pants and sometimes soiling. It always leads to lying and hiding it. I've got my daughter, 10 in June, who STILL does this. There is nothing medically wrong with her. There's nothing major that has gone wrong in her life (divorce, remarriage, deaths, abuse, etc) that would account for this, and I don't know what to do.  I guess I'm here asking all the people who've posted in the last few years to give an update, maybe tell what happened? Did you try a specail diet or dicipline techinque? Did the problems resolve on their own?

I guess I just need support. I am having her do her own laundry, and it sometimes takes a few washes before things actually smell clean. And if you're getting desperate, the best way to get out the old poo is to use anything with oxy clean in it (OR use a cup of hydrogen peroxide, which is essentially the same thing).

I don't do anything like punish, but I have her sitting on a baby-changing-mat so she doesn't continue to sit on my furniture with wet pants, or soiled undies. (BTW, parents going through soiling after 3, you've got my sympathy. Vinegar gets the smell out, and won't damage most couches any more than the smell of fecal matter, if at all)

My almost 4 year old stops what he's doing and goes potty, so I know once my daughter's problem resolves, I'm not going to have to do this again.

You can calmly explain to her that she is too old to be doing that. Maybe explain to her that you don't want to have to clean it up when she does it. Maybe you can talk to her and find out if there is an underlying cause as to why she does it?  Just a question but is it possible that she could have IBS, Chrons, Colitiis?   Maybe you should talk to her doctor about this, and see what he/she has to say about it.
