Almost 4 yo boy peeing when and where he wants

by JSMom315, Nov 05, 2009 01:57PM
My little wonder is peeing on floors, walls and in his pants and I consider him potty trained (?).  I read some old posts that were very encouraging and will use the aim for the cheerio-in-the-toilet game/method.  He is in pre-school and thankfully they are very patient.  The difference is that my usually empathetic and honest child is very non-chalant about this choice of peeing-on-demand.

Any other encouragement, advice or shared experience is greatly appreciated.

To be frank, it sounds like you have already come upon a very useful method to address this. Please let us know how the situation unfolds.

Thank you Dr. Kennedy.  I appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback.  I will let you know how it goes with the cheerios.  We talked about this with him last night and he said he was playing a joke.  We are not ones to live in the past and we always talk about choices but we did have him follow-up with his teachers today with an apology which we felt was important.  Because we're addressing his behavior and want a change, we will start with cheerios tomorrow to ease the stress on him.  We are in the process of our second adoption and have been talking more about the baby lately which I think was a huge trigger.  We have backed off of talking about that in front of him.  My husband and I also decided to dedicate much attention to him last evening and tonight.  We try to do this every night, but it is a good reminder about quality time.

Thank you again and I'll let you know how the cheerio exercise goes.

p.s. I am a fellow Eagle.  MS Maternal/Child health, '97 College of Nursing.  It is  reassuring to reach out in this format (something I have never done, and am not accustomed to doing) for information and support, especially when it comes to your own experience as a parent.  :-)  Thanks again!
