Thanks for ur reply....

I am an Indian.... I am bascially a Malayali and my hus is Hindi...... but i do know Hindi too.....

I son says only few words like...... mama, papa, tick-tick, EI EI O someother words too..... I feel he can understand what i am telling him.... b..cos when i scold him for doing something he just leaves it there n moves but sometime she doesn's seems to bother...... i tell him to drink water he does..... but sometime not....... i really dont knw..

So you feel that we have to talk to him in a single language.... so that he picks up fast...... regarding his reaction with us.... i feel he is like any normal kid.... may be b..cos i am a mother..... he smile when he looks at me.... whenever he wants me to give him a hug ..... he comes running to me asking to pick him up.... gives me a kiss when i ask for.... that too sometimes as i told u before.... he is very happy with his father too..... but attached to me more.....

He sometimes loves watching TV with us..... keeps fighting with his father.... jumps around with him........ but most of the time he plays alone........as i told before sometimes he responds when we call but sometimes he doesn't .... he never bothers to look back at all...... but he rarely responds.....  regarding eye contact he doesnt have any problem i belive....... n the one thing i found in him is that he loves music n doggies...... i an my husband r planning to buy a doggies will that make any changes in him..... just for curiosity.......

Hope there is nothing seriously wrong with him..... pls i am in need of someone who can sort out this for me..... so that i can make sure he is like normal kids....

He appears to be connected with you and his father.  He sounds affectionate with you both and you stated that his eye contact is good.  These are all very good signs that he is developing well, socially speaking.  It can be the case that children who are exposed to two languages while very young can be delayed in language development.  Is there any family history of children who talked later than normal but eventually caught up to their peers?  You need to talk to your son's doctor about this.  There are specialists, speech language pathologists who can evaluate your son's language skills and provide treatment to help him develop language if he needs help.

I would suggest that you go to your son's doctor and talk to him/her about your concerns directly and see what is recommended.  Talk to the doctor about your son's readiness for pre-school.  It may be wise take your son out of play school and wait until he is more ready.  I emphasize that you should talk to your doctor.

Try doing internet searches of the following topics, at least some of this information should be helpful to you

1.  development of 2 year olds
2.  speech and language development in children
3.  speech/language therapy
4.  late talking
5.  preschool readiness

Best wishes...
