My baby (14 months) just developed this attachment to her shoes. She wants to wear it all the time. Is it normal? Any attempt to remove her shoes for nap time usually ends with a lot of tantrum and cries with tears running down her face. is this normal

I would say that it's both normal and not normal, depending on how long this goes on for. My daughter loves her shoes and wants them whenever she sees them, but she doesn't throw a fit about it (14 months too :) ). However, my nephew (3 1/2 years) is so obsessed with his shoes that he'll wear them until his feet wrinkle and blister from the moisture and he becomes absolutely unmanageable when they're taken away from him. I consider this more of a discipline issue with my in-laws refusing to discipline his tantrums than anything else though, and at your daughter's age you still have a good chance of helping her learn acceptable behavior.

I think you just have to put your foot down and make sure you're consistent, because it's not a problem now and it is fairly normal, but if you're not consistent with your rules it could become a problem.

Maybe shoes are for going out or playing dress-up (as she gets older) and she can wear socks in the house instead? Maybe get her some pretty or colorful socks that she can wear in lieu of shoes when she's in the house.

Just don't let her get to the point of my nephew...I get so angry that I shake when I see how blistered and raw his feet are simply because his parents won't put their feet down and tell him "no!". You have plenty of time to wait this out and teach her what you consider acceptable. Her tantrums will probably pass in time as she realizes they aren't having an effect...just hang in there!!!!

Also I meant to ask....is she content to just play with them, or does she want them on her feet all the time?
