Baby changes

by ceciliag, Nov 14, 2008 04:05PM
Hi my daughter is 13 months old and she had gotten sick last month with the flu.  Being a little over a month i cant help notice she wont sleep through the night like she was starting to before she got sick. Keep in mind she was a happy baby. Since shes been sick, shes sick with a cold like every week, crying all the time, and she wakes up in the middle of the night crying and theres no stopping her. She starts freaking out if i dont pick her up. When she does fall back to sleep shes constanetly tossing and turning as if shes not comfortable. She wasnt like this before, so is it me over reacting or does something seem wrong?

I expect she got very comfortable having you hold her and did she sleep with you at all, as what is better than that, ,if she wakes in the night make sure she is okay and soothe then tuck her in and leave, you knowshe is alright so you have to endure the yelling. Make sure she is tired before she goes to bed and hasnt slept all day, as if she was sick they sleep a lot and she simply has to get back to the old pattern.

the timing could be a coincidence. dd slept through the night without interruption for months, then around 13 or 14 months had much more distrubed sleep due to teething.

have you been back to the ped to rule out ear infections, etc..?

If you haven't taken her back to the dr for a follow up, I think that you should.  My son would often get ear infections following a cold or flu.  Repeatedly waking up during the night was always one of my first clues.
