Balance

Balance

Hi.  I have a 2 and a half year old daughter who has problems with balance.  She can walk on a flat unassisted but on a gradient she struggles.  The smallest upward step in unachievable.  She also appears to just loss balance and fall over from time to time.  She has an un-diagnosed bowl condition and has had squint surgery 18 months ago.  The eye specialist says that her squint has nothing to do with her balance problems.  Her ears have been checked and that’s all OK.  She has seen a physio who says she has no idea what the problem is.  Does anybody have any ideas?

Look at this,  at Johns Hopkins.  There is research going on that connects eye/vision disorders (sounds like your daughter has strabismus?) and balance issues, especially in children.

Maybe you could write or call them?  Looks like this study is right up her alley.

Best wishes.
