Bitting Child

my 4 year hold daugher has been bitting my 2 year old son.  It happens when we are not in the room but she tells us she does it becuase he is not giving her a toy or he is not doing what she wants him to do.  We have been giving her time out, taking away certain activities she enjoys but it does not seem to be working.  Is this a larger behavioral problem or is this just part of an older sibling being jealous of her younger brother.

I think it is a older sibling just not getting her way...and I say this for my 4 1/2 yr just started this to his brother who is three---he was never a biter when he was a baby--but now watch out.  I told him the next time I catch him biting his brother I was going to to bite him and see how he likes it....there have been no bites for a week now.  I hope that it stays that way,

my brother was a biter when he was about that age. it actually followed him into the first year or so of preschool if i remember correctly. it was just a thing he did when you made him mad or just because. my mom had a terrible time getting him to stop doing it. he got in trouble at preschool a lot. then he just stopped. grew out of it. i wouldn't worry.

im step son is a year in a half and he bites my four yr old what i have been doing is time out and telling him we dont bite. my daughter when she was younger used to do italot what i did was bite her back not hard just a little one, and then id tell her it doesnt feel good does it and she stopped doing it after the 5th-6th time of bitting i no it sounds bad but it worked, also they say after 2 if bitting its a sign something is wrong forsay she is tense and unhappy. perhaps she is bossed and disciplined to much. or feels her lit bro is a threatening to her or jelously can cause her to do this. dr spock says that when a child bites to just draw back when u see her doing and and just tell her not to do it but in a friendly manner. there is differnt ways to stop this show you are in charge. good luck in this.
