Central Auditory Processing Disorder CAPD

This is the latest diagnosis that my 6 year old son may possibly have. Does anyone have any knowledge about this? Has anyone read any good books about this? Can anyone give me any advice form their own experience with this? What I have read on the internet about this disorder sounds exactly like my son and it pretty much covers most of his other diagnosis. I was told by the Dr. that this can not be tested for until he is 7 yrs. 9 months. I was wondering if anyone else has had success in treating this? Please tell me what worked for you.

YES!  I can give you info.  My son was dx'd at the age of 14 with APD by Dr. Jack Katz who lives in Kansas (Prairie Village) and runs the Auditory Processing Service Center.  The tests took maybe an hour and were simple tests for my son to complete.  We had the results before we left his office and my school district paid for my son, myself, two speech and language paths. and one of his teachers to go back to Dr. Katz's office for training.  The SLPs are now working with him twice a week for 15 weeks.  Dr. Katz wlll retest him at that time.  He swears this can be fixed by his therapies.
