Child cries in the middle of the night

My Nephew has been having crying spells, in the middle of the night, where he cries and calls out, for his Dad. He has actually come into the Living Room, where I am sleeping (I'm staying at my Brother's house, because our Mom is in the Hospital, in Critical Condition), and he's crying, so I ask him what's wrong. He, sometimes, pauses and then, resumes crying. He never tells me, why he's crying. He has a tendency to cry, during waking hours, as well, and also whines a lot. Sometimes, for no apparent reason, he will recount an injury that he incurred at an earlier time. In other words, we will be talking with him and he will suddenly say something like, "Yesterday, I fell and hit my arm on my swing set". I'm mainly concerned, though, about the night-time crying spells. Any ideas?

Also, what forum should I leave a message in, for the following problem:
My Nephew drinks (juice, mainly), constantly. He would drink it, non-stop, if he was allowed to. And, he drinks it very fast, actually making sucking noises, as if he were dehydrated.
