Crack addictions

by Rudy queen, Mar 01, 2000 12:00AM
My wife just told me the other day that she was pregnant. She was addicted to crack as a teen and I am afraid that the baby will grow up being a crack baby. So as a dedicated father I want to find out as much as I can about crack babies and all other related subjects. So far my search has been successful except for that no one can tell me how docters can tell it is a crack baby by looking at it in the embriotic stages    of development. Can you explain this to me please?

Dear Mr. Queen,

You needn't be concerned if your wife's addiction occurred years ago. Some women become pregnant while they are actively using cocaine, and the chemical in turn acts on the developing fetus. It is the active use of the drug during the pregnancy that results in the problem.
