Development delay in 13 months old

My son is 13 months old and delay in fine motor skills. He is not picking any small thing and not eating anything himself. Also he does not understand simple command like give it to me, sit down or Bye Bye etc... He plays pick a boo like when i put my hand on eyes he comes and remove my hand from eyes...he plays hide and sick with his sister. When we call by his name he turned... That

You have done some good things - you have arranged for Early Intervention and for a neurological evaluation. What is clear at this point is that your son is not keeping pace in his development in several areas, including gross motor, fine motor, expressive language. Now, the reason your pediatrician is being careful is that the course of development does not proceed in precisely predictable fashions. A youngster can be slow to develop in an area and then show steady improvement. It's still too early to know what the pattern of your son's development will be. He may display a general developmental disorder that has an impact in a number of areas, or he may show a few problems in certain areas of development but not in others. The important thing for now is that you have sought help - you are not just waiting to see how development unfolds.

Thanks for your quick answer. Here I just want to ask you one thing that you said that he is dealy in gross motor skills. He is 13 months and he walks with support, pull himself up etc. So why you said he is dealy in gross motor skils.

Good question. At your son's age, most children can accomplish this task without support, but needing support is not a worry. Many 13-month-olds are at the same stage.

I read about Autism online. How do i find that my 13 months old has or not Autism. He is delay in his development. He does not like to play in park or play area. He plays with his sister. He has problem in eating. Sometime he sleeps good and sometime he has problems. We thought he is teething thats why he is not eating or sleeping well. As I said he plays pick a boo and hide and seek. he is not pointing anything but he can reach to toys whatever he wants. So what you suggest? Please relpy me. I am so much worry about him.
