Dexedrine Spansule - Potential effects of food/Drink

Our Son is taking one 5mg Dexedrine Spansule every morning with a quarter pill of .1mg clonidine.  In the past, we have read information about the potential effects of drinking fruit juice or eating certain fruits with the Dexedrine.

We have searched the web and have consulted with our Dr., however we can't find any information on this.

This morning, our son ate a big bowl of strawberries before school and his teacher told us that he seemed like he had no medication this morning.

Could the strawberried have effected the potency/absorbtion of the medication.

We appreciate your help.

Dear Mr. Sokol,

Gastrointestinal acidifying agents, like ascorbic acid or juices from fruits, can lower the absorption of dextroamphetamine. This may have occurred with your son. If so, it's best he refrain from eating such quantities of fruit while on the medication, and reserve such foods (or drinks) for later in the day when the medication has been metabolized.
