Disaplining my toddler son....

by Des, Mar 22, 2001 12:00AM
Hello,

I am young single mother.  My son will 3 years old in 2 months.

Recently he has started defying me. When I punish him for this he also defies his punishments.  Time outs he will make his body limp, and slide out of position.  Or he will just not stay.  He screams and tells me "no" over and over.  If I send him to his room he kicks the door and throws his toys and screams at the top of his lungs.  Spanking doesn't seem to affect him either.  I'm looking for a method that works.  I need to a system that affects both my son and I in a positive way.

Thank you,

Sincerely,

Des

Please take a look at Lynn Clark's book S.O.S.:Help for Parents. It will offer you a sensible, practical, effectice approach to behavior management. The approach involved clear delineation of expectations, effective communication of directions, and systematic implementation of rewards and consequences.
