Does a 10 yr old boy have sperm?

by weluvuron, Jun 10, 2007 12:00AM
My son just turned 10 in April of this year. He already had armpit hair around the age of 8 and now he has even more and a small amount of pubic hair as well, but do boys at this age have 'active' sperm?

While in most boys sperm production (spermatogenesis) begins around 12-13 years of age, this certainly can vary. The appearance of secondary sex characteristics, such as you describe, indicate that your son will be at the early end of production of sperm as well.
